2025 Conference on Public Health Strategies to Combat Substandard and Falsified Medicines
Description
The Third Annual BESAFE Conference will bring together global leaders at the forefront of the fight against substandard and falsified medical products. This high-impact event will convene regulators, public health experts, healthcare providers, policymakers, academic researchers, and pharmaceutical industry leaders to address the growing public health threat posed by substandard and falsified medicines.
Hosted by the Behavioral and Educational Strategies for Avoiding Falsified Medicine Exposure (BESAFE) Initiative at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the conference aims to advance patient safety and strengthen the integrity of the global medical supply chain.
Over two dynamic days, participants will:
- Share cutting-edge research and data-driven insights
- Engage in practical discussions and moderated panels on detection, prevention, and response strategies
- Build cross-sector partnerships through interactive networking sessions
The BESAFE Initiative's recent provider surveys in the U.S. and South Africa reveal a troubling reality:
- Fewer than 5% of healthcare providers are trained to detect counterfeit medicines
- Nearly 90% lack actionable knowledge to prevent them
These findings underscore the urgent need for education, collaboration, and global action—themes central to the BESAFE Conference mission.
The in-person event has limited registration (maximum 150 participants). For more information and to access reports from previous symposia, please visit the BESAFE website.
