Description
Vali Nasr, professor of international affairs and Middle East studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), will discuss his timely and authoritative work, Iran's Grand Strategy, hosted by SAIS Rethinking Iran. In the book, Nasr examines how Iran has pursued a coherent grand strategy for decades—navigating regional rivalries, U.S. pressure, and shifting global power dynamics.
The conversation will be moderated by Helene Cooper, Pentagon correspondent at The New York Times and Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist. Together, they'll explore Iran's geopolitical ambitions, relationships with key regional actors, and implications for U.S. foreign policy.
Nasr is a leading expert on the Middle East, a former dean of Johns Hopkins SAIS, and author of numerous books shaping public and policy debate.
