U.S.–Latin America Relations Under the Trump Administration
Description
The Program in Latin America, Caribbean and Latinx Studies and the Program in International Studies are excited to present this event where Michael Shifter, former president of the Inter-American Dialogue, will discuss with Inés Valdez, Johns Hopkins professor of political science, the likely outlines of U.S.–Latin American relations in the second Trump administration. The conversation will revolve around how the dramatic changes in trade, migration, and aid police promised or already implemented by Trump will affect Latin American countries' political and economic dynamics and how the diverging ideological orientations of Latin American heads of state may shape bilateral relations.
