Understanding and Coping with Trauma
Description
Experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, or even being close to someone who has been affected, can have a profound emotional impact. It's common to feel anxiety, grief, or even guilt in the aftermath, and these emotions can linger long after the event has passed. The disasters our nation has faced over the last several months have been deeply traumatic for many, whether directly or indirectly affected, and it's normal to have strong emotional reactions. This workshop will help you recognize common responses to trauma and understand how they can affect your well-being. We will also explore effective strategies for managing intense emotions and fostering resilience as you navigate the recovery process.
This live workshop will be facilitated by CCA trainer and mental health professional Valerie Carroll, LCSW.
The Johns Hopkins Employee Assistance program (JHEAP) can help you and your household family members connect to professional counseling for any issue that's on your mind. Access is free, confidential, and 24/7. Call 1-888-978-1262.
