Beyond Borders: Antisemitism, Islamophobia, and the Israel-Palestine Divide

Description
Michelle Goldberg, an opinion columnist at The New York Times, and Samer Sinijlawi, founding chair of the Jerusalem Development Fund, moderated by Sarah Wildman, an op-ed page editor at The New York Times, will give discuss "Antisemitism, Islamophobia, and the Israel-Palestine Divide," presented by the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and Hopkins at Home.
Goldberg and Sinijlawi will examine the rise of antisemitism and Islamophobia, particularly in light of current events surrounding the Israel-Palestine conflict. Participants will explore how these forms of prejudice manifest in public discourse, social movements, and media narratives, often exacerbating divisions and hindering constructive dialogue. The conversation will address the historical and cultural roots of these biases, as well as their impact on affected communities, and explore the question: What are the responsibilities of educators, policymakers, and activists in combating hate while fostering mutual understanding and respect?
