Sips & Stories: A Journey to Home Through Mindful Writing & Drawing for International Students
Description
This is a space for international students to relax and connect with one another. Although we may not be physically home this holiday season, we can journey back to the feeling of home in our hearts and minds, and find a sense of belonging in this shared space with peers. The event will be facilitated by Sherry Zhang, who was an international student in the U.S. for five years before coming to Johns Hopkins as coordinator for gender-based violence prevention and response (a confidential resource for students).
Agenda:
- Make drinks: Choose from jasmine tea, masala tea, or hot cocoa.
- Guided meditation: A mindful journey to the place you call home. What do you see, smell, hear, and touch? How do you feel?
- Free writing/drawing: Reflect on what "home" means to you. Share if you wish, or keep it private.
- Reflect and connect: Exchange stories and chat.
All forms of participation are welcome. You can simply listen if that feels more comfortable.
