Description

In celebration of Notre-Dame de Paris's grand reopening after the devastating 2019 fire, Johns Hopkins alumna Kathy Borrus, A&S '98, will share insights from her book, Notre-Dame de Paris: A Celebration of the Cathedral. Borrus will lead us through the cathedral's rich history—from the laying of its first cornerstone in 1163 to its many transformations over the centuries. Discover the events, people, and fascinating details that have shaped this iconic structure, all illustrated with beautiful historical images from her book.

This Alumni Author Talk, presented by Hopkins at Home, will be moderated by Anne E. Lester, an associate professor of medieval history at Johns Hopkins University. Lester recently published an article with Perspectives on History on the cathedral's restoration and reopening.
