DBH Presents: "If Pretty Hurts, Ugly Must Be a Muhf*cka"
Description
Set in the fictional world of Affreakah Amirrorkah, four teenage girls struggle with societal definitions of beauty in "If Pretty Hurts, Ugly Must Be a Muhfcka." The Dunbar Baldwin Hughes Theater Company beautifully executes this interpretation of a Nigerian folktale, seamlessly merging contemporary Black American and traditional West African culture. "If Pretty Hurts, Ugly Must Be a Muhfcka" is written by Tori Sampson and directed by Benedict A. Dorsey.
Come watch a show full of laughter, drama, and self-reflection that encourages audiences to ask the question, "Why are we so willing to pay the price of beauty?"
