National Gallery Nights - Extended hours at the Frary Gallery in D.C.
Description
In celebration of the opening of the Irene and Richard Frary Gallery's inaugural exhibition, "Art and Graphic Design of the European Avant-Gardes," the gallery will host extended hours from 6–8 pm on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Hopkins Bloomberg Center.
Johns Hopkins Lecturer in Museum Studies Jon West-Bey will give a pop-up talk on Washington, D.C. artist Sam Gilliam's commissioned painting A Lovely Blue and…!, 2021 in the lobby at 7:15 pm.
The extended hours coincide with the National Gallery of Art's latest fall season edition of National Gallery Nights, themed "To the District, with Love."

At the Hopkins Bloomberg Center: Jon West-Bey
Jon West-Bey is a curator, museum consultant, and owner of West-Bey Consulting in Washington, D.C. He has curated over 60 exhibitions and produced and managed numerous award-winning public, educational, and multimedia programs over multiple disciplines, including history, art, literature, and cultural studies. He is also the founder of the American Poetry Museum in Washington, D.C., and spent 10 years as its executive director. West-Bey was also the curator of the arts program at the University of Maryland Global Campus and the founding curator of the Prince George's African American Museum in Maryland. As a consultant, he has had a client list that has included the Urban Civil Rights Museum in Harlem, the Black Wall Street History Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the Motown Museum in Detroit, Michigan.

The Irene and Richard Frary Gallery is the Hopkins Bloomberg Center's free, public art gallery presenting rotating exhibitions drawn from the University's collections, and special exhibitions born out of partnerships with leading museums and collections.
