WAG your WORK: Writing Accountability Groups
Description
Join the Johns Hopkins Provost's Leadership, Advancement, and Development Academy in welcoming Kimberly Skarupski to discuss how to increase your writing productivity. What are writing accountability groups (WAGs)? How can they help you be more productive, get promoted, and build networks and community? How can you get started?
A WAG is an active writing group that meets once a week over a 10-week block and follows a strict agenda of 15 minutes of updates and goal-setting followed by 30 minutes of individual writing, and then 15 minutes of reporting and wrap-up (there is no peer review of your writing—the WAG is focused on developing a process and habit of writing). A WAG is limited to four to eight members who must commit to attending at least seven of the 10 weekly sessions, but faithfully following the plan guarantees achieving increased writing productivity (quantity and quality), having greater control over the writing process, experiencing improved goal-setting and time management, and, as a bonus, establishing relationships with new colleagues and friends.
