Hopkins at Home: Year of Democracy: Elections Around the World
Description
The year 2024 has and continues to be a historic year for global elections, with over two billion people in 50 countries cast ballots in elections that will shape democracy around the globe for years to come. This virtual event—presented by Hopkins at Home, the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University, and the Alumni in Government, Academia, Law, and Policy Community—will examine the implications of this year's many global elections on the future of global democracy and will feature incoming SNF Agora Dissident in Residence David Smolansky, who will comment on the Venezuela July 28 elections and the stakes when democracies backslide, and SNF Agora Visiting Fellow Sanjay Ruparelia, an expert on India's and South Africa's elections.
