Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration
Description
Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to highlight the contributions of Hispanic people through storytelling, engaging history, addressing current event issues, and showcasing customs and traditions. This event is an offering by the Center for Diversity and Inclusion to support students, faculty, staff, and community members.
This year's featured speaker, Lizette Williams—award-winning business, digital, and marketing professional and lifelong diversity advocate—will engage the audience and Hispanic student interviewers in a vibrant fireside chat with Q&A. She will share her experiences building a corporate career at the intersection of culture and digital and brand marketing and her success story of leading with authenticity. Williams will also incorporate relevant personal elements including her experience being a first-generation, U.S.-born, Afro-Latina and the first person in her family to go to college—leveraging this personal experience to drive professional success with relevant diverse audiences in marketing.
Educating around these thematic issues will be a prime opportunity to advance our understanding and knowledge about the Hispanic demographic and become better informed about the overall community.
