Description

Join a supportive, communal, judgment-free environment where you can explore and expand your innovative ideas relating to education and education research. This multiday workshop series for faculty, staff, postdocs, and graduate students at Johns Hopkins and beyond provides an overview of education research and hands-on exposure to qualitative and quantitative methods in this realm.

Breakfast, snacks, and light refreshments will be provided daily for in-person participants. Lunch will be provided on June 4 and 5.

This workshop is hosted by the Center for Teaching Excellence and Innovation.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe research approaches in education.
  • Summarize best practices in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research.
  • Reflect on one's identities and background, and how they inform one's researcher positionally.
  • Discuss ethical and inclusive strategies for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Perform hands-on activities for designing, collecting, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Develop a working purpose statement for research study of interest.

Tuition Remission and Scholarships

Tuition remission is available for faculty and staff. Johns Hopkins faculty and staff, must fill out their tuition remission form and send it to Yvonne Moore-Jones at ymoorej@jhu.edu.

Johns Hopkins graduate students or part-time lecturers and staff who need a scholarship, please complete the application included in the registration form and email the instructor, Melo-Jean Yap, at melo@jhu.edu. Limited scholarships are available. In exemption of extenuating circumstances, scholarship recipients are required to show up, as it impacts other applicants who may not have been selected for a scholarship but wanted to participate.
