Chosen from a pool of 120 applications, the 10 ventures in the 2023-2024 Social Innovation Lab cohort are building and scaling impactful companies in Baltimore, with an eye toward the world. From carbon-neutral building materials and modular container housing to supporting diversity and career advancement in engineering and professional interpreting, come see these inspiring teams showcase their work and compete for prizes at this live pitch event.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the event begins at 6 p.m.
Teams pitching:
- Next Generation Language Access—Next Generation Language Access aims to train high school students to become professional interpreters by delivering the nationally renowned Community Interpreter® training to eligible multilingual students.
- Metallic Luxury—Metallic Luxury is a sustainable community-development company with a mission to create buy-in for generational families and businesses being priced out by using modular container construction techniques.
- JJ Innovative Materials—Commercializing environmentally responsible and carbon negative construction materials using our proprietary technology of hemp-based concrete (hempcrete).
- NAV—Nav is a youth-founded organization in Baltimore that empowers teens to navigate mental well-being challenges by providing access to mental health resources and fostering a stigma-free community while sharing valuable strategies and practices with adolescents ages 13–18.
- Divaneering Impact Lab—Divaneering Impact Lab is an innovation hub catalyzing inspiration, innovation, and impact to social change and enabling research to cultivate future female STEM leaders, fostering development, and commercialization of groundbreaking beauty products.
- Sacred House—Sacred House is a holistic wellness and community hub dedicated to bridging the gap to holistic health, wellness, and healing in Baltimore by offering comprehensive wellness services and fostering a supportive and inclusive community.
- ZROin—ZROin transforms brick-and-mortar retail into smart stores by integrating 360 Matterport technology and e-commerce solutions, bridging the gap between physical and digital shopping experiences.
- Sweet Bee Services/Salama Wellness Centers—Sweet Bee Services/Salama Wellness Centers offer the desperately needed continuous-care postpartum experience and long-term resources that can end maternal mortality in the U.S.
- NovvaCup—NovvaCup combines the reusability of menstrual cups with the convenience of tampons to promote the sustainable development of period products.
- Backyard Basecamp/Project Healthy Communities—Project Healthy Communities wants to continue to drive positive change by mobilizing resources, expertise, and community engagement to elevate social determinants of health in under-resourced Baltimore communities, with a dedicated emphasis on empowering Black women and Black, Indigenous, and people of color to prioritize and enhance their health and wellness.
