Sudan's Path Forward: Peace, Transition, and Humanitarian Response
Description
Sudan has been at a crossroads for several years. Following decades of civil war, the country embarked on a fragile democratic transition. However, a military coup in October 2021 stalled progress and unleashed renewed violence. Millions face displacement and food insecurity, creating a severe humanitarian crisis.
This roundtable discussion aims to bring together diverse stakeholders to explore solutions and chart a path forward for Sudan. It serves as a platform for open dialogue between policymakers, practitioners, academics, and media representatives. Students and emerging leaders with a focus on African studies, international relations, and humanitarian affairs will also be included, fostering the inclusion of future generations invested in Sudan's development. Through facilitated discussions and presentations from key experts, this collaborative environment aims to identify potential areas for collaboration among these diverse stakeholders.
This event is hosted by the North Africa Initiative of the Foreign Policy Institute at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.
