Description

Jami Valentine Miller, the first African American woman to earn a PhD in physics at Johns Hopkins University and the founder of African American Women in Physics Inc., will share her experiences in going through the physics pipeline and strategies to enhance resilience. She will discuss recent efforts to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion in the physics community with a particular emphasis on increasing the percentage of women and underrepresented minorities who complete their studies in these fields. This is a Physics & Astronomy Department–wide Colloquium presented by the Johns Hopkins chapter of the National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP).

This talk will be of particular interest to graduate and undergraduate students in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
