Description

The Johns Hopkins Center for Health Disparities Solutions, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and NMAC, is hosting the HOPE Challenge 2, themed "The Heart of the Matter: Closing Disparities in Hypertension, Cardiovascular Disease & Stroke," commemorating the American Heart Month.

Doors open at 8 a.m. to allow for breakfast and networking and the event begins at 9 a.m.

Agenda highlights include an engaging panel discussion on "Life Support: A Biomedical Approach to Closing Disparities in Hypertension, Cardiovascular Disease, and Stroke" focusing on how disparities in cardiovascular disease impact people of color, who has access to the latest in new lifesaving technology, what the latest clinical trials and research say about disparities, and the nature of the medical and policy solutions.

A fireside chat with national experts entitled "Health Is Where the Heart Lives: Understanding the Link Between Cardiovascular Disease, the Built and Food Environments, and the Social Determinants of Health" will highlight why the built and food environments matter for health, how social determinants shape health disparities, and policy solutions for reversing cardiovascular health disparities.
