Ethel Ennis Birthday Bash
Description
The late Ethel Ennis, LHD '08, was Baltimore's own "First Lady of Jazz," a singer with a luminous voice and the creator of an inspiring career based in her hometown.
The Sheridan Libraries, Peabody Jazz Studies, and Billie Holiday Center for Liberation Arts present a 91st birthday concert celebration that brings to life some of Ennis's signature songs and extends her legacy with multi-generational performances, featuring Peabody's own acclaimed vocalist Charenée Wade, the Peabody Jazz Ensemble, and vocalist and dancer Brinae Ali, and special guests Baltimore-native and legendary pianist Cyrus Chestnut and the Baltimore School for the Arts Jazz Ensemble.
This is a hybrid event; to attend virtually, purchase a streaming pass online.
The evening will also present Earl Arnett's forthcoming memoir, A Jazz Romance, about his life with Ennis for over 50 years.
