Hispanic Heritage Month Keynote: Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa
Description
Alfredo Quiñones-Hinojosa, chair of the Department of Neurologic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, will be the keynote speaker during Hopkins Familia's Hispanic Heritage Month opening day event.
Quiñones' American dream exemplifies the hope, resilience, work ethic, and passion that Hispanics in America embody. His story of being an undocumented immigrant to becoming an internationally renowned neuroscientist and neurosurgeon has inspired thousands of Hispanics to pursue careers in health care and break boundaries.
During the first hour of the event, Quiñones will discuss his story, his book, and his current research in medicine. The second hour's activities will be held next door in the Zayed 2117 meeting room and include networking as well as snacks and refreshments. A webcast link for Quiñones' talk will be available a couple of days before the event for those who can only join in virtually (registered folks will receive the link via email).
Hopkins Familia, a Johns Hopkins Medicine employee resource group, has been working hard to deliver meaningful and exciting events for this year's Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15–Oct. 15).
