Description

Transcendental meditation is an evidence-based approach to improve well-being. Transcendental meditation is a simple, natural, effortless technique practiced 20 minutes twice each day while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. Through transcendental meditation, practitioners can reduce stress and anxiety, decrease the impacts of depression and trauma, and improve sleep, intelligence, creativity, and learning ability.

Health Promotion and Well-Being invites Johns Hopkins students to apply to be part of the fifth cohort of transcendental meditation participants. The eight-week program is structured to help students gain the benefits of transcendental meditation while learning skills and connecting with other students.

The information session, which is required, includes introductions to teachers and other Johns Hopkins students and an overview of the program. Program applications are due Feb. 7 by noon. Please attend the event by using the Zoom link.

There are three opportunities to attend an information session:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m.
  • Monday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Space is limited. To participate in the cohort, students must commit to the entire program to gain the benefits of the transcendental meditation practice, and this includes an in-person session at the Baltimore transcendental meditation center on Fleet Street. If this schedule does not work on this round, there are other Johns Hopkins meditation and mindfulness offerings and transcendental meditation may be offered again in the future.
