Please join a roundtable conversation with Shary Reeves, born and raised in Cologne, a former soccer pro, actor, journalist, sportscaster, author, and popular TV moderator, and Ismailcan "Isi" Usta, a former member of the Nürnberg Bundesliga academy who tried out for the German national youth team, a citizen of Germany and Turkey, and a proud UMBC Retriever since 2021.

The conversation will be moderated by Dexter Blackman, Morgan State University assistant professor of history and geography. The event is organized by Victoria Harms, Johns Hopkins visiting assistant professor of history, and Brett Berliner, Morgan State University associate professor of history and geography.

A multi-campus event series made possible with generous funding from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (German Academic Exchange Service, or DAAD), with support from the Departments of World Languages and of History at Morgan State and the Departments of History and of Modern Languages and Literatures at Johns Hopkins University.
