IBBS Turns 21: Symposium Celebrating Basic Scientists
Description
This year marks 21 years since the Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences (IBBS) was formed at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Designed to support and leverage resources across nine basic science departments, IBBS includes more than 140 scientists focused on biomedical research and scientific discovery.
Join the IBBS for a day of presentations from faculty in each of the nine basic science departments and remarks from the School of Medicine's Executive Vice Dean Landon King, Johns Hopkins University President Ron Daniels, and two former IBBS directors.
Presentations will include research on reward-seeking behavior, the microbiome, stress-activated protein kinases, HIV and antiretroviral therapy, bacterial pathogenesis, synaptic transmission, psychedelics, mRNA and transcriptomics, and peroxisomes.
All faculty, staff, and students affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine and Johns Hopkins University are invited to attend. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day for attendees, and a reception concludes the day.
