Description

You are invited to attend the next virtual Bioastronautics @ Hopkins Mini Symposium on the topic of space surgery.

Panel members will include:

  • George Pantalos, a professor of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery and of bioengineering at the University of Louisville, in partnership with Jewish Hospital and Norton Children's Hospital
  • Danielle "Dani" Carroll, a general surgery resident and a TRISH-funded space health researcher and instructor pilot
  • Kris Lehnhardt, the element scientist for exploration medical capabilities in the NASA Human Research Program and associate professor and attending physician at Baylor College of Medicine

Pantalos has collaborated with NASA for many years helping to understand cardiovascular adaptation to the weightlessness of space flight and the return to Earth. Carroll is a former U.S. Air Force captain and has logged more than 1,100 flight hours in a variety of high-performance jet aircraft.

This is the third in a series of mini symposia on human spaceflight, each approximately two hours long with panel discussion and audience interaction. These events are hosted by the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering's Office of Research and Translation and Hopkins@Home.
