Description

Brought to you by Advanced Academic Programs and the Masters of Liberal Arts program, join Tristan Cabello for a curated discussion with Zuri Obado as they discuss "Diversity and Inclusion in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM)."

As a first-generation student herself, an enthusiast for education, and an advocate for educational access and equity, Obado has concentrated her academic and professional pursuits around the mentorship and empowerment of underrepresented minorities in STEM. As a Rutgers University alumna, Obado excitedly took the opportunity to support underrepresented students at Rutgers in various capacities for over five years. Since 2017, as pre-health advisor at a Johns Hopkins University graduate post- baccalaureate program and in her role as a committee member and newly appointed co-chair for the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions Committee of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, Obado continues in her mission to increase opportunities for a broader range of students while also leading in advocacy efforts for minoritized communities of students. Through advising, mentorship, and leadership, Obado looks to continue helping students be competitive professional school applicants and well-rounded professionals. In the spirit of advance through innovation, Obado has also invested significant time to work in social impact entrepreneurship spaces and looks to apply her diversified experiences in a way that energizes individuals, institutions, and communities to maximize their impact.
