Description

This three-day conference titled "Dismantling Global Hindutva: Multidisciplinary Perspectives" will explore both the history of the Hindu supremacist movement (Hindutva) in India and abroad as well as the various human rights crises that are unfolding under India's current ruling party today.

There will be a number of excellent panels featuring eminent scholars, ranging from issues of how this movement has been inspired by interwar fascism of Italy and Germany to the Islamophobic and casteist violence that is on the rise in India. The organizers also plan to develop several educational modules based on the conference deliberations and will make such resources available to all who need them.

This event is co-sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Sociology Department along with over 70 other academic departments from universities across North America and the U.K. See the schedule, speakers, and co-sponsors online.
