Description

Join Eliot A. Cohen, dean of the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and Secretary Leon Panetta, chair of The Panetta Institute for Public Policy, for a discussion on contemporary American foreign policy through the lens of Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski. Carla P. Freeman, executive director of the SAIS Foreign Policy Institute, will give introductory remarks.

Leon Panetta co-founded The Panetta Institute for Public Policy with his wife, Sylvia, in 1997 upon completion of his service as White House chief of staff in the Bill Clinton administration. He co-directed it with her until 2009, when he left to serve as CIA director and then secretary of defense under President Barack Obama. He returned to the Institute as chair in 2013.

The Zbigniew Brzezinski Initiative's Inaugural Annual Lecture is co-sponsored by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Foreign Policy Institute, and SAIS Dean's Speaker Series.
