bioastronautics@hopkins: Virtual Symposium on Human Spaceflight
Description
The Virtual Symposium on Human Spaceflight is the inaugural event for bioastronautics@hopkins, a new Special Interest Group at Johns Hopkins University, led by Mark Shelhamer, Johns Hopkins professor of otolaryngology and former chief scientist of the NASA Human Research Program. Speakers will include Serena Auñón-Chancellor, physician and NASA astronaut, and N. Wayne Hale, Jr., director of human spaceflight at Special Aerospace Services and former space shuttle program manager at NASA, which included seven successful space shuttle flights. Faculty from various Johns Hopkins organizations doing work in the field of human spaceflight will also speak.
bioastronautics@hopkins will focus on bioastronautics and space life-sciences research, habitat design, and related engineering. Johns Hopkins brings a broad range of expertise across several divisions and plans to expand activities in this field of study, through its internal expertise and through collaborative efforts with other institutions.
