Description

Please join "A Conversation with Lynda Carter, Actor, Singer/Songwriter, and Producer" followed by a Q&A session, as part of the Leading Change: Perspectives from Outside of Medicine "Conversation Series 2021."

The goal of the series is to help attendees think about ways to improve "the patient experience" at Johns Hopkins by learning from experts in other fields and disciplines. The lectures are open to all members of the Johns Hopkins community and we look forward to seeing you there. In order to allow for an open exchange between the speaker and the audience we will not record or broadcast the lecture.

Please attend the event by using the Zoom link (Passcode: 842516).

Best known for winning our hearts as the 1973 Miss World-USA and then as Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter is an accomplished singer who has performed to rave reviews before sell-out crowds around the world. In addition to her long acting career, Carter has the distinction of producing and starring in five highly rated network television specials for CBS, several of which were Emmy Award nominated. She has appeared onstage with many of the world's most famous popular singers, including Ray Charles, Tom Jones, Kenny Rogers, George Benson, and Ben Vereen.

Though Carter continued to act in films and television, when she had children, she left the road to raise a young family. She returned to live performing in 2006, appearing on the London stage with an acclaimed star turn in Chicago. In 2007, Carter started touring again in venues across the country with her band of Nashville all stars. Carter has brought her concerts to major venues across the country, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. Her first album, At Last was released in 2010 and dropped at No. 6 on the Billboard charts. Her second album, Crazy Little Things", was released in 2011. Carter released her most recent album, Red, Rock N' Blues in 2018. Her music is available on iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon.

For her incredible career, Carter was presented with her 'Star' on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018. Carter and her husband, Robert Altman, reside in Washington, D.C., and have two children, James Altman, an attorney, and Jessica Carter Altman, also an attorney but now concentrating on her own singing career, making guest appearances with her mother along with just releasing her solo debut EP, No Rule.

Carter has contributed to many charities and has been an outstanding spokesperson for women's rights and equality. She will discuss her knowledge about life in the public eye as well as how to rediscover and re-invent yourself in your career and life.
