Description

IDEAL JHU launches its new Protecting Democracy Symposium with "The Russia Attack: 2016 and the Future of Election Security." This event features a panel of four esteemed experts, some of whom helped discover and prove Russia's involvement in the 2016 presidential election.

Speakers include:

  • Scott Shane, a two-time Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist and fellow at the SNF Agora Institute who helped prove that Russian troll farms and bots impersonated American citizens on social media
  • Robert Johnston, the former principal consultant for Crowdstrike who identified that Russia had hacked into the Democratic National Convention and current CEO of Adlumin, Inc.
  • Peter Pomerantsev, a senior fellow at the SNF Agora Institute who has published two award-winning books on propaganda
  • Avi Rubin, a professor of computer science at Johns Hopkins who has worked with election security
  • Adam Sheingate, a professor of political science at Johns Hopkins, will moderate
