Description
On Aug. 14, new regulations from the United States Department of Education went into effect regarding how colleges and universities must handle sexual misconduct matters that fall under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX is the federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in federally funded education programs and activities. In order to comply, Johns Hopkins University has updated its Sexual Misconduct Policy and Procedures accordingly.
The university's Office of Institutional Equity stands ready to help our community members understand the impact of these changes, and reminds everyone that sexual misconduct has no place on our campuses or in our programs and activities.
Please join a virtual town hall session to hear about how these changes pertain to our disciplinary processes and the specific steps that must be followed in the formal process for addressing complaints of sexual misconduct that fall under Title IX.
Panelists will include:
- Shanon Shumpert, Vice President of Institutional Equity
- Joy Gaslevic, Assistant Vice Provost & Title IX Coordinator
- Linda Boyd, Deputy Title IX Coordinator, Office of Institutional Equity
- Cherita Hobbs, Executive Director, Office of Human Resources, Employee and Labor Relations
