Description
The university encourages members of the JHU community to be civically engaged and participate in the electoral process at all levels of government: local, state, and federal. Federal law, however, stipulates that a tax-exempt organization such as JHU may not itself "participate in, or intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for public office."
Join members of the university's Offices of Federal Strategy, Government and Community Affairs, and General Counsel for practical guidance to ensure compliance with university policy and federal requirements as we also uphold our commitment to the free and open expression of ideas.
The town hall will feature Cybele Bjorklund, vice president, federal strategy; Thomas S. Lewis, vice president, government and community affairs; and Gerard St. Ours, senior associate general counsel. Stephen Gange, professor and executive vice provost for academic affairs, will moderate the event.
Submit questions in advance at gca@jhu.edu, and join the live webcast on the Hub (JHED login required).
