Value the Vote: Johns Hopkins University's Women's Suffrage Centennial Commemoration: Democracy, Inclusion, and the Path to Empowerment
Description
Martha S. Jones, the Society of Black Alumni presidential professor and a professor of history at Johns Hopkins, will discuss her forthcoming book, Vanguard: How Black Women Broke Barriers, Won the Vote, and Insisted on Equality for All, with Johns Hopkins President Ronald J. Daniels. Vanguard, a history of African American women's pursuit of political power — and how it transformed America — will serve as a launching point for a discussion about democracy, inclusion, and empowerment.
