Description

Johns Hopkins University experts will weigh in on the different scenarios that leaders, teachers, parents, and students may face in the coming months depending on the pandemic's trajectory in their communities.

The event will be streamed live on the Bloomberg School of Public Health's COVID-19 Expert Insights webpage.

Topics covered include:

  • How should schools offering in-person learning react to positive cases among students, faculty, and staff, or to spikes in community transmission?
  • What should trigger shutdowns, and how can leaders know when it's safe to reopen?
  • How can teachers and parents help children manage distress caused by uncertainty, distance learning, fear, and what may be a year of continuous closings and reopenings?
  • What resources do school leaders and educators need to plan for different scenarios?
  • What options should parents and students have when circumstances change?

Speakers include:

  • Josh Sharfstein, vice dean for public health practice and community engagement at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
  • Jennifer Nuzzo, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and associate professor at the Bloomberg School
  • Annette Anderson, deputy director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Safe and Healthy Schools and assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Education
  • Tamar Mendelson, director of the Center for Adolescent Health and Bloomberg Professor of American Health at the Bloomberg School

A recording will be made available on the Bloomberg School's website and YouTube channel. Audiences may submit questions before the broadcast via the form provided on the Bloomberg School's COVID-19 Expert Insights webpage.
