Description

The SAIS Women Lead Practicum Program collaborates with government, corporate, and nongovernmental organizations to provide students with professional experience through action-oriented research projects that advance women. The 2020 practicum teams will present the findings from their field research and final reports during this presentation. This year's practicum projects include: "Mapping Community Approaches to Gender-Based Violence Prevention in Nepal," "Increasing Women's Political Participation in Ethiopia," and "Gender-Responsive Disaster Risk Reduction in Cebu, Philippines."

The presentations will begin with introductory remarks by Eliot Cohen, dean of the School of Advanced International Studies, and Chiedo Nwankwor, director of the School of Advanced International Studies Women Lead Program. Guest speaker Megan O'Donnell, senior analyst and assistant director of the gender program at the Center for Global Development, will give the key remarks. Narges Bajoghli, assistant professor of Middle East Studies, will deliver closing remarks after the practicum teams' presentations.
