Description

Join the School of Advanced International Studies for a discussion with Adele Barzelay (SAIS '17), governance analyst of Middle East and North Africa affairs at the World Bank.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought into focus the challenge of protecting fundamental rights in personal data and privacy while deriving important insights from such data for health monitoring and decision-making. These data-related challenges increase as governments and the private sector are developing, and increasingly relying upon, applications that use artificial intelligence and other big data technologies for contact tracing, communications, and monitoring health status, among others.
