Description

Lord Michael Hastings, the chancellor of Regent's University London, will give a webinar entitled "Lifelong Learning and the Potent Challenge of Citizenship" for the Bologna Institute for Policy Research Seminar Series.

The first duty of every aspiring adult is not leadership, nor prosperity, or even progression in ambition. These are the consequences of a much more significant duty — the critical underpinning of our responsibility as citizens. Today's liberal young societies are framed by rights and privileges — we are the people on the go all day — always on, always out, always going, always pursuing, always anxious. On the other hand, a society framed by learning, insight and knowledge is an adaptable, supportive, engaging, empathetic, and maturing society. Our corporate responsibility is to be wise enough to know the difference between the two and build skills-based futures where lifelong learning leads to perpetual hope.

The event is organized by the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies Europe Student Government Association, who invited Lord Hastings as speaker, and the Bologna Institute for Policy Research.
