Form Beyond the Aesthetic Workshop
Description
Please join the Department of the History of Art for a single-day workshop entitled "Form Beyond the Aesthetic."
Bringing together art historians and artists working across a range of subfields, this workshop asks what it would mean to insist on a political valence for form and whether form could then take on new art historical significance. The daytime talks will include materials from Special Collections and in the evening, Hope Mohr Dance will perform extreme lyric I, followed by discussion.
Daytime activities are scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Doors open at the Baltimore Museum of Art for the dance performance at 4 p.m. and the performance begins at 4:30.
With generous support from: the Alexander Grass Humanities Institute, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Department of Classics, the Department of the History of Art, the Office of the Deans of the School for Arts and Sciences, the Office of LGBTQ Life, the Office of Women and Gender Resources, and the Program in Museums and Society.
