Description

Thucydides' book The History Peloponnesian War is a classic in both political science and history that continues to speak to us today across more than two millennia. Most recently, Graham Allison, professor of government at Harvard University, has sparked a debate over whether the U.S. and China are in a "Thucydides Trap" and thus fated to go to war. But are Thucydides' lessons still valid? And can we derive new ones from his remarkable work?

To find out, join the Center for Advanced Governmental Studies to hear Andrew Novo, associate professor of strategic studies at the National Defense University, discuss the new book Restoring Thucydides: Testing Familiar Lessons and Deriving New Ones, which he co-authored with Jay Parker, chair of international security studies at the National Defense University.
