Description

Author Lawrence Ross presents "The Blackballed Lecture," addressing not just the symptoms of campus racism but the root causes that are almost ubiquitous on over 700 colleges and universities.

In the lecture, Ross will break down how white supremacy acts as a foundation for the systemic and individual racism you see on campus. From there, he will discuss four different areas of campus racism: anti-affirmative action/segregation, iconography like statues and monuments, the IFC/Panhell system, and racial microaggressions. Afterwards, Ross will talk about how one can be anti-racist and create an anti-racist campus.

This lecture will be followed up by the Symposium on Race Relations: Campus Racism-a-thon with Ross on Feb. 21.

This event is a collaboration between the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Black Student Union, and the Black Faculty and Staff Association.
