Identity Series and Cuisine Night: Indigenous Heritage Celebration
Description
Come see students such as Joel Espinoza, representing Indigenous students at Johns Hopkins. Melanie Pillaca, director of the Multicultural Leadership Council, will also share her story. Jerreed Ivanich, assistant scientist at the Center for American Indian Health, will be present to talk about his cultures, background, and experiences within his own identities.
This will be a very powerful evening filled with storytelling and learning more about our students and staff who shares Indigenous heritage.
The Office of Multicultural Affairs' Identity Series & Cuisine Night is a monthly event series that features provosts, deans, directors, staff, and student leaders to speak about their "identities" with students over dinner. These identities can include race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliations, ability, nationality, and more. The goal of this event is to allow the speaker to address their own identities, tell their story, and engage in conversations about intersectionality with the Johns Hopkins student community, all while enjoying a meal related to their identity in a casual, intimate setting.
This event is sponsored by Indigenous Heritage Celebration.
