Description

Celebrate Heritage365 and join the Office of Multicultural Affairs' Identity through Art series with artist Stephen Newbold, who will help attendees show aspects of their cultural identity through artistic pieces.

Over the centuries, many artists have used art as a vehicle for exploring questions about identity. Using approaches to art making, artists express the reality and complexities of their identities. This event will allow students to explore and analyze their own identity with a creative lens using paint brushes, canvases, and a verity of colorful paint.

Newbold, an artist and educator, was featured as part of Johns Hopkins' Black Heritage Celebration in 2019 and is returning in 2020. He will talk about his experience as a Black artist and educator in his field as well as encourage attendees to dive deep into their own roots to create art on canvas, which they can take home.
