This year's J. Thomas August Memorial Symposium speakers include:

  • James. E. K. Hildreth, Ph.D., M.D., president and CEO of Meharry Medical College
  • Barbara K. Felber, Ph.D., senior investigator in the vaccine branch and head of the human retrovirus pathogenesis section at the NIH
  • George N. Pavlakis, M.D., Ph.D., senior investigator in the vaccine branch and head of the human retrovirus section at the NIH
  • Drew Pardoll, M.D., Ph.D., professor of Oncology, Medicine, Pathology and Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, director of the Bloomberg Kimmel Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, and co-director of the Cancer Immunology Program at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins.
  • David Scheinberg, M.D., Ph.D., chair of the Molecular Pharmacology Program at the Sloan Kettering Institute and director of the Center for Experimental Therapeutics at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
  • Ernesto T. A. Marques, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and public health researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation
