Description

Formerly relegated to shadowy street corners and carnival tents, magic enjoyed increasing acceptance during the 19th century, especially among wealthy families like the Garretts of Evergreen. Inspired by Evergreen's circa 1880s magic set and the history of 19th-century amusements, technology, and occult practices, magician and storyteller David London performs a show that combines social history and intriguing illusions to examine how magic cast its spell on a society that was at once skeptical and impressionable.
