Description

Learn about this new alternative break program abroad, designed to provide a unique opportunity for undergraduates, graduates and faculty across JHU to engage in an integrated learning experience focusing on global mental health and therapeutic practices in Oman. Participants will be able to apply their theoretical knowledge while enhancing and broadening their perspectives and intercultural awareness by observing and learning about health and healing practices that originate in the Middle East and North Africa. Led by Dr. Norma Day Vines and Dr. Rabiah Khalil, the program combines excursions to significant cultural sites in Oman that reflect a non-Eurocentric approach to health and well-being, including visits to local temples, mosques, botanical gardens and nature sites, as well as visits with Omani families and colleagues in the counseling department of Sultan Qaboos University.

Program Dates: Nov 21-Dec 1, 2019 Application Deadline: 5:00 pm, Monday, Oct 7
