Description

Dr. Sarah Amend, an assistant professor of Urology at the Brady Urological Institute and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, will give a talk entitled "Ecology Meets Cancer Biology: Keystone Cancer Cells are Actuators of Therapy Resistance and Cancer Lethality," which kicks off the Women in Cancer Research Fall Mini Seminar Series, hosted by the Institute for NanoBioTechnology.

Using cancer ecology to solve the problem of metastasis, Dr. Amend's research is focused on understanding the role of the tumor microenvironment in cancer progression, specifically related to lethal metastasis. She did her Ph.D. thesis work on contributions of the microenvironment to bone resident cancer.
