Description

Join leading gun policy researchers for Policies That Work to Reduce Gun Violence, a half-day forum that will highlight how evidence-based policy solutions can be used to address the nation's epidemic of gun violence. This event will be streamed live on the American Public Health Association website.

Co-hosted by the APHA and the Bloomberg American Health Initiative at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the event will feature experts who will examine the scientific data behind gun violence prevention policies. While more research is needed to fully address the U.S. epidemic of gun violence, implementing existing evidence-based interventions and policy solutions now can save lives and prevent harm.

Speakers include:

  • Georges C. Benjamin, APHA executive director
  • Carnell Cooper, medical director at Northeast Methodist Hospital
  • Linda C. DeGutis, adjunct professor at the Rollins School of Public Health
  • Joshua Sharfstein, vice dean for public health practice and community engagement at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
  • Daniel Webster, Bloomberg Professor of American Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health
  • April M. Zeoli, associate professor at Michigan State University School of Criminal Justice

This event will be streamed live online. Attendees at the Newseum should use the C Street group entrance.
