Day at the Market: Emergency Prepare-A-Thon
Description
In observance of National Preparedness Month, the Environment and Engineering Department at the School of Public Health in collaboration with the Day at the Market community partners are coordinating a two-day Emergency Prepare-A-Thon event to encourage and assist families to be prepared for disasters in their homes, businesses, and communities. The event theme is "Disasters Happen. Prepare Now."
The event will happen over two days (attendees need to only come to one session):
- Sept. 11: Northeast Market (2101 E Monument St., Baltimore, MD 21205)
- Sept. 13: Pleasant View Gardens Community Center (201 N. Aisquith St., Baltimore, MD 21202)
The Emergency Prepare-A-Thon will mobilize individuals to take an active role in protecting themselves, their loved ones, and their communities. Its chief goals are to increase the number of people who understand which disasters could affect their community, know what to do to stay safe, take action to increase preparedness, and improve their ability to recover from a disaster. This year's event hopes to provide 1,000 Baltimore families with education, resources, and an emergency starter kit for their home.
