Johns Hopkins Undergraduate Law Review

Description

Join the Johns Hopkins Undergraduate Law Review in celebrating their inaugural annual gala. William H. Murphy Jr. and Christina Bostick—two prominent lawyers based in Baltimore —will share their experiences practicing law followed by a catered reception.

The dress code is formal.

About the speakers:

William "Billy" Murphy has long been an active advocate of civil rights-related cases, first gaining attention as a criminal defense lawyer by drawing attention to the history of injustice toward African Americans. He served as a judge for Baltimore's Circuit Court and later founded Murphy, Falcon & Murphy. Most recently, he has represented the family of Freddie Gray, who suffered a deadly spinal cord injury while in police custody.

Christina Bostick founded Bostick Law Office to minimize the mistreatment felt by working-class individuals in lawsuits served unjustly by large law firms. She is currently providing legal counsel for the family of Henrietta Lacks, whose cells were famously used without her consent.
