Description

Featuring local talent from The Capitol Steps, Toby's Dinner Theater, Howard Community College's Rep Stage, and Silhouette Stages, this two-act play reading of Paula Stone's Because You're My Mother is sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

The play honors Liz's struggles — to balance her life, face loss, and let go — as she cares for her failing mother. With conflict, poignancy and humor, mother and daughter are each forced to meet the challenges of aging, caregiving, and strained family dynamics and to come to terms with their human vulnerabilities, limitations, and mortality.

Because You're My Mother tells a story familiar to families everywhere who care for an aging parent or relative. Combining her interests in theater, healing modalities and personal growth, Stone crafts a story that stimulates a much-needed generational discussion, and one that fostered her creation of multi-session workshops to teach and support adults caring for their parents.
