Description

Join the School of Advanced International Studies for "Under Pressure: Constraints on Artistic Expression in the New Turkey," a conversation with Dr. Lisel Hintz, an assistant professor of International Relations and European Studies at Johns Hopkins, and Turkish artist Şermin Ciddi.

As the world's largest jailer of journalists, NATO ally, and aspiring EU member, Turkey is under intense scrutiny for its human rights violations. The discussion will turn its attention to restrictions on artistic expression and explore the constraints artists of various media face in contemporary Turkey.
